Professor Le Aiguo, one of Superdirector Senior fellow has his recent book printed in China. The new book entitled "The Confucian Culture and Science & Technology in Ancient China" has been published by the Chinese Press in Beijing in December 2002 and circulated quickly in China recently.

"This is the first pioneering monograph exploring relationships between the Confucian culture and science and technology from all perspectives." said Professor Pan Fuen, a doctoral advisor at Department of Philosophy in Fudan University, one of China's most prestigious research universities. Professor Le studied under Professor Pan Fuen in the mid-80's in last century when he was a graduate student in Fudan.

The Confucian Culture has been incorrectly held widely and criticized unfairly that it had paid attention to Tao but had ignored craft, and despised scientific and technological elements in human life. Actually, this is not the case as analyzed and reported by Professor Le in his book. "On the contrary, Confucian scholars paid great attention to science and technology. Modern China's backwardness in science and technology were probably caused by incorrect interpretation and inappropriately application of Confucian doctrine and other social and political factors, not the doctrine per se. The wrong ideas about Confucian culture should be corrected." Professor Le concluded in his book.

At a recent National Seminar on the Relationships between Ancient Chinese Culture and Science, many scholars voiced similar opinions regarding Confucian culture and supported Le Aiguo's ideas. Among these distinguished scholars are Li Xing-Ming, Guo Jin-Bin and Yang Li-Bing.

Peterson B. Zhou, another Superdirector senior fellow and Editor-in-Chief of Seattle Forum said: "Through his insightful analysis, Professor Le has made a major breakthrough in the study of the Chinese Culture and Confucius, and therefore aroused great interests in the academia and the mainstream Chinese cultural community. As his long time friend and colleague, I am very proud of his great achievements."

"Professor Le has set up a very good example for the younger generation of Chinese scholars in studying Chinese culture, he is one of those excellent scholars in this field who show the promise of promoting Chinese culture and civilization." Said Dr. George C.H. Sun, the Acting Chair of the Superdirector Advisory Board and Executive Director of The Institute of Thome Fang. As former Chair of the Department of Philosophy at National Taiwan University, Dr. Sun is a well-established distinguished scholar in Chinese philosophy and culture for his over fifty years of teaching and research in Taiwan and the United States.

Professor Le Aiguo is also teaching in Xiamen University, China. He is one of the major contributors of Seattle Forum on Superdirector.com since 2001. This project was partly sponsored by the Confucius Cultural University in China.
