The Overseas Chinese Scholars Association (OCSCA) is going to host a special party celebrating Lunar Chinese New Year, the year of Golden Rooster on February 20, 2004 in China Harbor Restaurant in Seattle. The theme of the party is family gathering with fun and joy by the reunion of the family members and friends. According to traditional Chinese culture, family members are to meet with each other during the New Year Celebration, exchanging information, showing love and care, sharing with friends interesting stories, learning from each other, and encouraging each other regarding the New Year resolution.

In ancient China, people managed their time by listening to the cry of roosters days and nights as a natural way of life. Animals played a critical important role in daily lives, therefore, each year; a highly selected animal was named to be the honor according to their duties and characteristics.

"The incoming event is very special" said Sherry Li, the Performance Chair of the party and Vice President of OCSCA, "We not only have invited many prominent local and national performers, actors and actresses, movie stars, singers and dancers to join in our show, but also present our own performance which had already earned high reputation in our past benefits shows for the local charity agencies and organizations. Just name a few of the celebrity , famous Chinese actress Gu Ying, the heroine in * Romantic Bureau Director *, Sun Yiafang, the noted Actress in national TV show and Wang Jianli, former prominent singer in Chinese Central Symphony Group." Sherry Li said this party is going to be very fun and enjoyable to everybody, and this is the purpose of our party.

OCSCA is a high level organization opening to all Overseas Chinese scholars and students around the world. This association was founded in April 2004 in Seattle by a group of dedicated Chinese intellectuals who wished to provide professional services to local communities. The mission of this organization is to create better opportunity for all members and better realize the life goals of members. Another mission is to bridge the social, cultural, linguistic and ideological gaps between Chinese people and the people of the adopted homelands.

OCSCA also aims at introducing Chinese culture, philosophy, art, people and history to the world, and to help China to understand and learn from the outside world all advanced scientific technology, culture, management, and trade and business experiences.

This organization is committed to promoting mutual understanding, mutual enlightenment, mutual benefits and traditional friendship between the people in Greater China, and the people of other countries through social, cultural, academic, scientific, economic, and informational and visitors exchange programs.

Another critically important role for this organization is to enhance governmental relationships between Greater China and other countries through publishing articles, newsletters, through hosting high-level international seminars, lecture series and workshops, through facilitating high-level governmental, academic and trade delegations and ambassadors programs, and various kinds of exchange programs.

According to OCSCA bylaws, "We are not only just the bridges, we are professionally trained guides with international experience who provide cutting每edge know-hows to our clients in our counseling and advice. Our Doctors Club led by Vice President Catherine Pan, a senior research scientist in University of Washington Medical School will be offering volunteer service to those people who have no health care insurance. We are givers and doers although we also speak at national and international academic arenas in our respective fields. But we choose to be in low tone and seek no reward for our members. That is another important feature of our organization."

"OCSCA is a fairly new organization, and we need support and friendship, and we have been seeking talented and dedicated individuals for our vacancies in management team. This party is also a very good opportunity for us to meet new friends who might support our mission and work together in our various regular programs" Said President Peterson Zhou. " Come to learn what we did in the past and what we will do in the future. You might become our partners in the future for our consistent efforts in helping people and our communities.
